Vision in a Cover

In March 2013, I had a principal with a strong vision for Canda National High School. Mr. Jessie V. Vasquez requested me to help put his vision in the yearbook cover. He had actually challenged me to be friends with Adobe Photoshop. That time, I was just starting to explore the program.

So it was a collaboration with the principal himself, Mark Glenn Beniten, a Fourth Year student who is a great artist, and Mr. Janlo Robil, my ever reliable friend (who is an Ateneo Professor). After the conceptualization and drawing and digital enhancement, the final product shown below was used as the cover of the yearbook.

PINAKAFINAL COVER

The original sketches by Glenn:

Janlo Robil put the colors. I only finalized it with photos and other digital enhancements.

I was so happy to see the yearbook with this cover! And of course, so blissful to see that a vision was put in a cover to be seen by all.

Paalam, Kapitan Torio!

Paalam, Kapitan Torio!

Subalit, itatama ko lang ang balita. Namatay si Kapitan Torio on the spot pagkatapos mabaril.

“Baasis said Luna was shot at close range and died while being taken to a hospital.”

Senakulo 2017: The Sariaya Way

A heartfelt superb performance of Senakulo (again, for the 11th time).

The audience were silently watching and praying as Jesus Christ was tortured and nailed on the cross. I was moved. I felt the pain, not because of the pain in my feet for standing for almost four hours, but because I could only do watch the sufferings of Jesus Christ to save the people. I felt the torture because what He has died for includes me.

Congratulations Jeff Panopio Jumarang for another excellent portrayal as Jesus Christ. I am deeply moved. You are not an actor. You are Jesus Christ.

Congratulations Sir Federico Ceribo and the whole cast and production. Nakakamiss ang teatro.

Thank you Sariaya Tourism Council for continuing this “panata” and making Sariayahins see and feel the passion of Christ.

I can still remember the day you were born in our small house and the moments you were growing up and giving us so much joy. You have always been our dolce, loving and joyful sister and of course, a good daughter to our parents.

Thank you very much for always being a ray of sunshine to all of us! I hope you enjoy your day with so much love from all of us! Happy birthday Dulce! Dulce 21

Congratulations and Thank you Mam Thelma!

There are some people who would just occupy a small time in our lives. But this short period has a lasting impact in our lives. I had spent only three months with Ma’am Thelma as a co-teacher. But I am very thankful to her as she was the one who assisted me in my application at Castañas NHS Senior High School. I am very happy now that she’s promoted as a head teacher at Bignay II NHS. She has laid the foundation of this school in the last five years as the teacher-in-charge. As we send her off today with all of our love and gratitude, we wish her more power and great start ahead of her new journey. May God shower all the blessings in your career and family! Thank you very much Ma’am Thelma!

Meeting Michael Angelo Lobrin

I missed the chance of having a photo with the speaker, Michael Angelo Lobrin. But I was able to talk to him and shake hands with this happy person on the lobby as he went out of the convention center. His cheerful personality is incomparable. His energy and joyful attitude seeps out of his smiles and the way he talks. Of course, I promised to buy his book. I also told him my friend met him in Lucban years back. And I also read Bo Sanchez’ books.

To share what he told us in his talk, here is the summary:

Always be kind. Have courage. Focus. Have an attitude of gratitude. Be humble. Pretty the same as other inspirational speakers say but Michael Angelo’s way is so unique and remarkable. We almost cried in laughter. He’s one funny guy!

My College Sponsors

Before I sleep tonight, I would like to remember my college sponsors, Svea and Scott Fraser from USA. I lost contact with Ms. Svea four years ago but I always remember them sweetly just like now. I am forever grateful to their generosity to me. They provided my weekly allowance of around $8-10 consistently for four years (June 2004 – March 2008). I cannot repay them and I even don’t have the chance to meet them personally. But I always believe that wherever I go, whatever I do, it’s my mission to share what I have to needy people as they did to me. I am also very thankful to Sr. Anne and to Tita Vits for their support during my college years. I hope you’re always healthy and happy. I suddenly miss you.
